Tour de London 2009
September 12th & 13th, 2009
Tour de London is an annual USA Cycling & USHF sanctioned bike race that takes place in beautiful downtown London, Kentucky. It is a two day event that includes a Road Race & Criterium. Tour de London is also a Lance Armstrong Junior Olympic Race sanctioned event and is the Kentucky Road Race and Criterium State Championships.
All races will take place RAIN OR SHINE. Prize money for the weekend will total $10,000.00. Free trolley rides through downtown London will be available with a special stop at the Farmer's Market for the Taste of London. More information about each race is available below.
The winner in each category who is a resident of Kentucky will receive a yellow Kentucky State Championship jersey! A total of 7 jerseys will be awarded each day of the race. Only 1 jersey will be awarded for each category and only to the highest placing Kentucky resident. The jersey competition (and the title of Kentucky State Champion) is only available to verified residents of Kentucky. Tour de London however is open to any and all licensed racers or citizens who purchase the one-day license at the time of registration.

The Road Race is a 40 mile loop with a taste of everything. Five category 4 climbs and two category 3 climbs spread amongst lots of flat to gently rolling terrain. Every turn on this route is a postcard of rural Kentucky. These roads are lightly traveled and have been part of the locals regular riding routes for over a decade. The Road Race begins and ends in downtown London at the Farmer's Market. The day of the Road Race will also feature the Taste of London food festival. The race starts off at 10 AM. There will be $5,000.00 in total prize money for the Road Race. SPECIFIC RACE TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED.

The Criterium is a 6-turn, 1.1 mile course that is nearly flat with one small roller and a false flat finish. First race begins at 8:00 AM. Additional categories may be added as necessary. SPECIFIC RACE TIMES TO BE ANNOUNCED.

There will be $5,000.00 in total prize money for the Criterium. Specific payouts will be determined by the USA Cycling Race officials. This is a USA Cycling sanctioned event.
Don't forget, the Criterium race will begin at Farmer's Market, about ½ mile from the Road Race start/finish. It will be a fantastic family weekend of racing.
